The theme is ‘Biotech Innovation Ecosystem – Strategising the Next Leap’
The Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a public sector undertaking under the aegis of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India recently organised its 5th Innovators Meet in New Delhi. The theme for the meet was ‘Biotech Innovation Ecosystem – Strategizing the Next Leap’.
The event was attended by Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Harsh Vardhan, who was the chief guest and the guest of honour was Minister of State (MoS), Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, YS Chowdary. There were over 350 participants including Yigal Elrich, Founder, Chairman and Managing Partner, Yozma Group from Israel and Dr Sarvajna Dwivedi, Global TiE from Silicon Valley. Senior policy makers, industrialists, startups and entrepreneurs also took part in the event. The keynote talk was delivered by Elrich.
A panel comprising, Prof Vijay Raghavan, Secretary, DBT; Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology; Elrich and others deliberated on the emerging landscape of private venture funding in the country, especially in the life sciences arena.
The innovators meet also had a plenary talk by Dr Sarvajna Dwivedi, Global TiE Silicon Valley and a panel discussion on ‘Boosting Technology Development & Translation from Academia.’
