Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science (SPDS)- South Chapter in collaboration with JSS University, Mysore, organised a one-day seminar ‘Scientific Principles in Dissolution Science and Drug Testing’ in Bangalore. The event focussed on key challenges in area of dissolution testing, new technology and innovation, QbD aspects and regulatory perspectives related to dissolution.
The objective of the event was to bring academia and industry together, to brainstorm and share the knowledge on dissolution science. SPDS has been playing a keen role in creating such knowledge sharing platform by working closely with Indian universities and pharmacy colleges to spread and educate the science behind this modern instrument and its application.
The event was organised under the joint efforts of SPDS and JSS University, Mysore with key roles played by Dr Ramaswamy, General Secretary, SPDS and Managing Director, SOTAX India, Organising Secretary, Dr Raghunandan HV, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics and Coordinator, Industry Institute Interactions, JSS University and The General Secretary of SPDS-South Chapter and Organising President Dr Gowtham Rajan, Professor, Pharmaceutics Dept, JSSCP, Ooty and President, SPDS-South Chapter.
Dr Vinod Shah, Ex US FDA, Pharmaceutical Consultant, USA spoke about US FDA’s perspectives on Product Quality and Bioequivalence; Vijay Kshirsagar, Director and Chief Executive Officer, TRAC Consulting, Mumbai on Handling OOS and OOT results obtained in Dissolution; Dr Suresh Venkatram, Chief Scientific Officer, Semler Research Center, Bangalore on Scientific principles in Dissolution Methodology; Dr Sudhir Goudar, Head Group Compliance and Auditing, Novartis Asia Pacific Pharmaceuticals, Singapore on QbD for Oral Solid dosage Forms; Dr HV Raghunandan,Associate Professor, Coordinator, Industry Institute Interactions, JSS University, Mysore on Regulatory perspective on Dissolution Science.
A panel discussion was organised on ‘Future of Dissolution Science-Where are we going?’ Dr Sandip Tiwari,Technical Director, South Asia, Colorcon Asia, Verna, Goa; Prashant Hande, VP- Quality & Regulatory, Kemwell Biopharma; CR Ravi, General Manager, R&D, GSK Consumer Healthcare; Dr Santhankrishnan Srinivasan, Director- Product Development, Amneal Life Sciences took part in the discussion.
