Pharmexcil to host Japanese delegation

Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) set up by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has invited senior officials from Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan to better understand the pharmaceutical business in both the countries. The meetings will take place in New Delhi on July 26, 2012 and in Mumbai on July 27, 2012. It may be noted that Pharmexcil in order to promote Indian pharma products had launched the ‘Brand India Pharma Campaign’ at CPhI Japan in March 2012, followed by CPhI Indonesia in May 2012. The Europe launch will happen at CPhI Madrid in October 2012.

Speaking about the agenda for the meetings, Dr PV Appaji, Director General, Pharmexcil said, “This meeting will help Indian pharma exporters to understand the Japanese pharma market and its regulations. Likewise, it will help the Japanese government to understand in detail about the Indian pharma industry.”

Dr Rahul Khullar, Secretary, Department of Commerce, Government of India, launched the ‘Brand India Pharma Campaign’ at CPhI Japan. In order to carry on this initiative, Pharmexcil is all set to launch this campaign at CPhI Worldwide, Madrid, Spain. The campaign is the brainchild of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India.

The objectives of the campaign are to create consciousness about Indian pharma industry as a whole in the minds of overseas buyers; create an image that Indian pharma means ‘Excellent Quality at Affordable Prices’ and to project India as a $25 billion market by March 2014.

As part of this project, a logo for Brand India Pharma was also created. “We have launched the Brand India Pharma Campaign logo Rx, which simplifies that Indian generics are dependable, equitable and known as a quality medicines. The ‘Brand India Pharma Campaign’ will help Indian pharma companies to establish their presence more strongly and will be make them more confident in the global market. This will define that India has a substantial stake in the global pharma market,” Appaji added.

Appaji said, “Initiatives are being taken to organise ‘India Show’ at CPhI Worldwide in Madrid. Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the first time will organise the ‘India Show’ event for promoting Indian pharma exports, which is likely to be attended by Anand Sharma, Minister of Commerce and Industry.”

At the CPhI Wordlwide in Madrid, Pharmexcil will organise CEO forum, where Indian and global CEOs will interact face to face. Also, the Indian pavilion will have a FDA centre, where global CEOs can come and interact with senior drug regulators from India.
