A total of 100 colleges under PCI signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC) at a virtual event held recently. The event was graced by Dr Nirmaljeet Singh, Chairman, NCVET; Ved Mani Tiwari, Acting CEO, NSDC and Sudarshan Jain, Chairman Elect, LSSSDC and DG, India Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA).
Over the course of the next two-three years, LSSSDC expects all 1,800 PCI colleges offering BPharma to be fully integrated with it, and offering NSQF-aligned modules.
Set up in 2014, LSSSDC has been working towards a ‘demand-determined,’ industry-led curriculum fusing education and skilling, and stronger academia-industry bond has often been touted as mantras for a more robust skilling ecosystem.
Till date, the council has launched programmes related to skilling and apprenticeship, assessment and certification of the existing workforce under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and upskilling those already employed through E modules. It is also leveraging cutting-edge VR/Simulation-based technology for skilling in hi Capex manufacturing job roles, apart from launching e-modules for skilling.
