ClinTec International, a leading international CRO based in the UK, recently welcomed eleven Commonwealth Study Conference (CSC) leaders to its Glasgow Headquarters. The CSC leaders who were all senior level professionals from diverse backgrounds and established as change makers in their respective countries sought to find answers to a pressing global challenge – ‘How do people from communities which are spread across the world become bridge-makers in the global networks of the future?’
The visit to the headquarters of ClinTec International formed part of a Glasgow City tour during which several Scottish organisations were visited. Bobby Bal, Senior Director, Corporate Development, ClinTec International shared with the CSC leaders some of the keys factors for ClinTec’s success in building global business and diverse networks.
On behalf of HRH Princess Royal, Princess Anne, Common Purpose coordinated all the UK visits by the Commonwealth leadership group. Other prominent Scottish companies visited by the CSC leaders included the Weir Group and Scottish Television (STV). The study visits were specifically targeted at a number of key UK cities and as a second stage the tour will move to India and South Africa, with visits to leading companies in Mumbai and Johannesburg respectively.

Rabinder Buttar, Chief Executive Officer, ClinTec International, joined HRH Princess Royal, Sadie Docherty, the Lord Provost and Queen’s Leitenaunt for the City of Glasgow, Humza Yousaf, MSP, Minister for External Affairs and International Development, Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council and several other dignitaries for dinner at the Glasgow City Chambers.
During the visit to ClinTec International’s offices, Rabinder Buttar also discussed with the CSC leaders about the nature of the clinical research that the company carries out internationally and the full range of its services and its approach to customers throughout the life science and pharmaceutical sectors. Moreover, the specialist local expertise that ClinTec International has built up and established on the ground in multiple developed and emerging countries in key geographic regions across the globe, was explored in significant depth. Consequently, the range and diversity of the skilled personnel employed by ClinTec International also formed an important focus. Furthermore, the company outlook on future scope for building internationalised networks and its authoritative take on the benefits and challenges implicit in conducting and directing business from its Glasgow hub were also discussed in detail.
Commenting on the day’s events, Rabinder Buttar said, “I am delighted that the work of ClinTec International as a UK-based company with a track record for successfully developing a geographic presence with a solid network of established contacts across the global clinical research markets attracted the attention of HRH Princess Royal’s CSC team. Indeed, we are delighted to be one of a select group of companies to be singled out for the UK City visits and are proud of the contribution that we are making both to Glasgow’s and the wider UK reputation for possessing forward looking, multinational companies that are highly experienced and accomplished in global networking.”
The Lord Provost of Glasgow, Sadie Docherty, commented, “I am delighted that ClinTec International could participate in this important event and I look forward to visiting the ClinTec Glasgow headquarter teams personally and learning more about their involvement in global clinical research and how they build networks on an international scale.”
Common Purpose’s Scotland Director Connie Young said, “In a globalised world, migration is commonplace and ever increasing. People move between countries and communities taking their skills, knowledge and networks with them. They are a source of huge potential, able to add great value to the countries they go to and also the countries they’ve left through building bridges and connections between the two communities. Organised and delivered by Common Purpose, the 2013 Commonwealth Study Conference (CSC) participants on their study visit to Glasgow said on visiting ClinTec International and its leading executive and Scottish entrepreneur Rabinder Buttar “what a fantastic and inspiring example of someone building bridges through international commerce and helping her own people and those in other countries develop their cultural intelligence and fostering connections across communities of shared interest.”
