IIndia-based Mahindra Special Services Group (SSG), a leading Risk Management Consultancy, part of the $14 billion Mahindra Group, had a credible showing at the recently held IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2012, UK. The company was among the eight finalists for the Security Installation of the Year Category, based on a project done at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL).
The other seven finalists included big names in the security business like 2020 Vision Systems, Engineering for Science and Industry (Malta), Quadrant Security Group, Redcare, Siemens, Sodexo and Westronics with Siemens winning the Award in this category on May 14. The IFSEC Security Industry Awards are part of the long-established IFSEC International Event and its winners are recognised as a symbol of excellence throughout the global industry.
Dinesh Pillai, Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra SSG said, “The Firewall project initiative undertaken by Mahindra SSG at DRL highlights the importance of Information Security Risk Management by focusing on the link between securing the organisation, protecting the brand reputation, upholding the stakeholder trust and confidence and thereby retaining their competitive advantage.”
Speaking on the impact of the project, Dr Satish Reddy, Managing Director, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories said, “The outlook towards security whether physical or information, the awareness is very high at Dr Reddy’s. When I walk in to the office today, visibly I can see the difference Mahindra SSG has made. The level of commitment, level of awareness from the senior management, what needs to get done so that this as a process gets properly implemented within the company plays a very important role.”
The phase I of ‘Project Firewall’ started based on the findings of the discovery assessment conducted by Mahindra SSG. Thereafter, Mahindra SSG consultants worked on the implementation of the appropriate policies and the enhancement of the physical and technological security posture. Mahindra SSG assisted in setting up the implementation unit through the office of the Chief Information Security Officer at DRL and helped them build their in-house capabilities. This enabled DRL to roll out the initiative to their other plants and office locations in the country in a structured manner as part of phase II implementation activities.
What started as an initiative only meant for the Mahindra & Mahindra group companies, Mahindra SSG has by now assisted over 200 blue chip companies across verticals in de-risking their business by analysing threats and implementing frameworks that address vulnerabilities and minimise consequences.
The jury of the IFSEC Awards included some of the leading personalities in the security industry and these accolades are a celebration and acknowledgement of the excellence of services influencing and shaping the industry worldwide and promoting international standards.
