National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences, is celebrating its Foundation Day on February 15, 2013 at SAS Nagar in Mohali. Shivraj V Patil, Governor, Punjab will be the Chief Guest, who will deliver NIPER Foundation Day oration. DS Kalha, IAS, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, GOI will be the Guest of Honour.
Dr TS Balganesh, distinguished scientist and Head Open Source Drug Discovery, CSIR, New Delhi will give a lecture on ‘Trials and Tribulations: The challenge of finding new drugs for the treatment of Tuberculosis.’
Balganesh had earlier headed the research activities at Astra Zeneca, India in his capacity as Vice President and as Executive Director, driving the focus towards the discovery of novel drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis.
