The Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) and Quality Council of India (QCI) have launched Quality Award for Excellent Facility of the year, 2021 at pan-India level, to celebrate excellence in manufacturing processes in the pharmaceutical sector.
In a joint statement, the institutions said that the award is launched with an intention to help meet the country’s agenda of increased manufacturing of pharmaceutical products with the best quality at higher volumes at Indian facilities, meeting global manufacturing standards.
OPPI-QCI Quality Award for Excellent Facility of the year, 2021 highlights the importance of setting and adopting the best-in-class global quality standards in the pharmaceutical industry, keeping patient safety at the core. There has been growing awareness in improving and scaling up quality standards for manufacturing facilities in the country, added the statement.
Commenting on the introduction of the award, S Sridhar, President, OPPI, said in the statement, “We have seen tremendous advancements in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector over the past years. To accelerate the momentum and uphold the highest standards of quality in drugs which save lives, OPPI has joined hands with QCI to launch the Quality Award in collaboration with QCI wherein we will encourage large companies and MSMEs to upgrade significant and innovative practices in manufacturing, thereby facilitating increased global acceptance for the Indian industry.”
Commenting on the Quality Award, CK Biswas, CEO, National Board for Quality Promotion, Quality Council of India, said, “Quality is imperative in the pharma industry, given the commitment towards patient safety. This award aims to recognise the outstanding achievements by large pharma companies and MSMEs by implementing new technologies, innovative manufacturing systems while following the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Furthermore, with Aatmanirbhar Bharat, this award will trigger a manufacturing revitalisation of high-quality products in the pharmaceutical industry, thereby facilitating sustainable growth and being the largest exporter in the world.”
The awards will be conferred to the winners at the Annual Summit of OPPI, scheduled on 23rd and 24th March 2022, to be attended by ministers from the government of India and global dignitaries.
