Biocon Academy set up by Biocon in 2013, announced the graduation of its third and fourth batch of 30 students each. The academy has successfully developed high-end talent of young biotech professionals through an intensive 16-week ‘Biocon-KGI Certificate Program in Biosciences’ and all of them have been placed at reputed global biotech/ pharma companies, including Biocon and Syngene.

The average score of the students stood at 3.310 CGPA on a scale of four. During the current placement drive, over 10 biotech companies recruited the students for various functions like production, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, research and development and marketing. A talented pool of 60 aspiring biotechnologists (from Batches 3 & 4) received their certificates from Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chief Mentor, Biocon Academy during the recently held graduation ceremony at Biocon Park, Bangalore.

Mazumdar-Shaw said, “We are proud of the young talent being developed at Biocon Academy for the biotech sector. The professional success of these students will inspire many other young biotechnologists to pursue their passion for science. It is encouraging to see the impact made by the academy in such a short period. We are now developing new programmes which will further enhance biotech learning and prepare them to seek opportunities to excel in the biotech world.”

Eight students of Biocon Academy’s third and fourth batches were presented with ‘Gold Medals’ for Academic Excellence, while 19 students, who demonstrated extraordinary talent in other areas during Group Projects, Class Assignments, etc., were given the ‘Kudos Awards.’
