CSIR and NII conferred Thomson Reuters Innovation Awards

Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of information for businesses and professionals, today acknowledged India’s top innovators at the Thomson Reuters India Innovation Awards 2013, established in 2007. The main categories were

  • Hi-Tech Academic & Government – Council of Scientific & Industrial Research
  • Pharma Corporate – Glenmark Pharmaceuticals
  • Pharma Academic & Government – National Institute of Immunology

This year’s guest of honor at the event was Dr. T. Ramasami, secretary to the government of India, Department of Science & Technology. Commenting on the Awards 2013, Swarup Choudhury, managing director, Thomson Reuters, India said, “In an increasingly globalised world, innovation is critical for enhancing competitive advantage. We at Thomson Reuters, award companies and academic institutions basis our research and analysis of their work as recorded in Thomson Reuters patent information services.”

Commenting on their recognition in the Hi-Tech Academic & Government category, Professor Samir K Brahmachari, Director General, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research said, “CSIR today is globally benchmarked and is recognised as a successful model of post independence India’s innovation system that provides globally competitive, affordable technological solutions to diverse sectors, from leather to generic drugs, pesticides to tractors, glass and ceramics to industrial catalysts, and from minerals and metals to advance materials.”
