Datwyler Sealing Solutions is presenting its advanced product portfolio for drug delivery systems for parenteral drug administration at this year’s CPhI Worldwide in Barcelona. Datwyler is also introducing FirstLine facilities at the event. Visitors at this year’s CPhI Worldwide will be able to see the components and sealing solutions first-hand at Datwyler’s booth 2H20.

In its Firstline facilities Datwyler produces exclusively all components that belong to the Omniflex family of vial and syringe components and manufactures pharmaceutical rubber components such as vial stoppers or syringe plungers in a fully integrated Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment. The Firstline facilities are designed and operated under a zero defect philosophy. The process flow, gowning protocols, personnel and material flow, and automation all result in the lowest endotoxin, bioburden, particulate, and defect levels available in the industry.

There is a rising demand for reduced particle loads in pharmaceutical containers. Datwyler is answering this demand by manufacturing lubricious barrier Omniflex coatings which do not require siliconization. Omniflex Coated Plungers (OmniflexCP) are manufactured using a proprietary, flexible fluoropolymer spray coating technology that is designed to: (1) be an inert barrier and (2) impart a low coefficient of friction without siliconisation. This method ensures that the entire plunger surface is covered (in contrast to the partial coverage of most film coatings) and has the benefits of providing a full barrier and eliminating the need for siliconisation of the plunger ribs. The absence of siliconisation eliminates the largest source of subvisible particles and translates into ultra-low subvisible particle loads from the plunger.

Datwyler Sealing Solutions offers a wide range of specialised, complex and unique coatings, elastomer formulations, and aluminium seals that allow customers to effectively package and administer drug products in the highest quality and most efficient manner.
