DBT awards Biotechnology National Associateship 2012-13 to scientists from NE region

Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, recently presented Biotechnology National Associateships for 2012-13 to scientists working in North Eastern states of India. The names of the scientists who were selected are listed in the table below.

Applications were invited from scientists conducting research or training in National Institutions/ research laboratories in different areas of biotechnology such as agriculture, food and feed biotechnology; animal biotechnology; aquaculture and marine biotechnology; food and nutrition; environmental biotechnology and Bioresources; industrial biotechnology (materials biotechnology, reaction and process design); medical biotechnology; nano-biotechnology and bioengineering; bioinformatics and IT-enabled biotechnology and intellectual property and patent law, were eligible to apply.

Applicants possessing a Ph.D in the area of biosciences and biotechnology or a MD degree with a good record of research contribution in the field of research and candidates with Mv.Sc., M Tech, M Pharm with minimum two years experience were also eligible.

The scientists were required to hold regular/ permanent positions in government recognised research and academic institutions/universities located in any of the North Eastern states (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura) working continuously for the last two years and should be actively engaged in biotechnology or related R&D work.

Applications from persons working on temporary positions (e.g. research fellows or associates etc) were not be considered. Preference were given to candidates who are permanent residents of any of the North Eastern states. The last date for submitting the articles
