HK College of Pharmacy celebrates Pharma Week

HK College of Pharmacy (HKCP) recently celebrated Pharma Week. The week started with an industrial visit to IPCA in Silvasa. The second activity of the week was Scientific Day, named TechCrunch. It was 5th Scientific day celebration in HKCP. The day was graced by presence of Dr Shrirang Joshi, Head R&D, IBIC Research and Technology Centre, who was the Chief Guest. This year, being a part of Pharma Week, the Scientific Day was open for other college students as well. Students took part at intercollegiate competitions in debate, model making, oral presentation and quiz competitions. Students of HK College, LHH College of Pharmacy, KMK College of Pharmacy, Bombay College of Pharmacy, Oriental College of Pharmacy took active participation.

In addition to these competitions Krunal Pawar, a past student shared his experience on masters course in epidemiology, specialisation in clinical and genetic epidemiology, in University of Munich and guided the students on study and research in Germany, through his presentation.

The one-day national seminar on ‘Techniques of Taste Masking and Evaluation’ and ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ (IPR) and Patent Drafting” along with poster competition was organised. The key note address was given by Dr Ashok Omray, President, Ideal Cures, Mumbai, who was also the chief guest. He advised students to equip and arm themselves as much as they can. Sourabh Dhopade, Afroj Sayyed, Kamlesh Rathod from S Zhaveri Pharmakem, Sandeep Mane from Roquette India and Andreya Fernandes, Bina Dandekar from Gopakumar Nair Associates were the other speakers.

Taste sensing machine, co-processed technology product, pre-lubricated high functionality composite, cyclodextrins complexes in pharmaceutical applications, IPR and patent drafting were the highlights of the seminar.

The intensive poster evaluation was done by the evaluators: Dr Rajani Athawale, CUShah College of Pharmacy, Arvind Naik, St Johns College of Pharmacy, Dr Rashmi Srivastava and Sheeja Koliyote from MET college of Pharmacy, Dr Mrunmayee Toraskar, Bharati Vidyapith College of Pharmacy.
