Pfizer appoints Pradip Shah as Chairman of Board
Pradip Shah succeeds R A Shah, who stepped down as Chairman
Following the resignation of R A Shah, the Pfizer Board of Directors appointed Pradip Shah as the Chairman of the Board of Pfizer. Shah has been on the Board of Pfizer since December 1999 and has been guiding the Board and Management on various financial and strategic decisions, the company notified in a statement.
Speaking about his appointment, S Sridhar, Managing Director, Pfizer, said, “Pfizer acknowledges and values Pradip Shah’s contributions to the Board for many years as a financial expert, and I look forward to his continued advice and leadership. With his elevation as the Chairman of the Board, we will work closely with him on matters of strategic importance to Pfizer in India. I also wish to thank our outgoing Chairman, R A Shah, for his years of service, leadership and counsel to the Board. He has guided the company to navigate in possibly every conceivable operating environment and has served as a force of continuity and stability in an industry characterised by rapid changes.”
Speaking about his new appointment, Pradip Shah, Chairman of the Board, said, “I am honoured to have been entrusted this privilege and responsibility. Over the years, Pfizer Limited has proven to be a company that is committed to the highest standards of corporate governance, accountability and transparency. I look forward to contribute to Pfizer’s vision for the future, with the support of my fellow Board members.”
The statement also mentioned that Pradip Shah is the ex-Managing Director, CRISIL. Prior to founding CRISIL, Pradip Shah assisted in founding the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) in 1977. He has also served as a consultant to USAID, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank. Shah is a Director on the Board of several reputed companies and is also a member of various prestigious committees/commissions. Pradip Shah is currently the Chairman of Indasia Fund Advisors. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, is a Chartered Accountant and a Cost Accountant, and ranked first in India in the Chartered Accountancy Examination.
